1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and UnlockedEditor ("UnlockedEditor", "we", "us", or "our"), a company operating from the United Kingdom. They govern your access to and use of our websites, software, APIs, Discord communities, and any other products or services we make available (together, the "Services").
By creating an account, installing our software, or otherwise using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to consent to the processing of your personal data, to use the Services. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your account
You are responsible for any activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not share, sell, rent, or transfer your account to anyone else. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us immediately at [email protected] so we can help secure it.
For any request relating to your account, purchases, refunds, or your personal data, you must contact us from the email address registered to your UnlockedEditor account. We use the sending address as a baseline check that a request is genuinely coming from the account holder, and we may decline to act on requests sent from an unrelated address, or ask you to re-send the request from your account email, before we can help.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, our EULA, or any applicable law, or that put the security or integrity of the Services at risk.
4. Acceptable use
When using the Services, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, tamper with, or attempt to extract the source code of any UnlockedEditor software or product, except to the limited extent this restriction cannot be prohibited by law.
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Services without our written permission.
- Use the Services to break the law, infringe the rights of others, or violate the terms of any third-party platform or game.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts.
- Issue fraudulent chargebacks or otherwise abuse payment providers.
Additional rules specific to our AI features are set out in section 7. Violating this section or section 7 may result in the immediate loss of your account and access to the Services, with no refund owed.
5. Purchases, subscriptions, and chargebacks
Prices for paid Services are shown at the point of purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment provider. Your card and billing details are submitted directly to Stripe and are stored by Stripe, not by us; by paying, you also agree to Stripe's terms and privacy policy. Unless required by law or explicitly stated otherwise, all purchases are final and non-refundable once the digital product has been accessed or delivered.
To protect against fraudulent chargebacks, we keep session logs that may contain your IP address and a hardware identifier ("HWID"). These logs are automatically cleared 7 days after the session, except where we need to retain specific entries for longer to investigate an active case. If a chargeback is filed against a legitimate purchase, we may provide this information to the payment processor as evidence and may permanently disable the associated account and any linked accounts.
6. Software licence
Your use of UnlockedEditor software is licensed, not sold, and is additionally governed by our End User Licence Agreement. The EULA is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
7. AI-powered features
Certain parts of the Services use artificial intelligence ("AI features"), including assistants, chat interfaces, and integrations accessed through our Model Context Protocol ("MCP") server. We provide the underlying AI models ourselves; you do not need to bring your own API key or provider account.
Third-party model providers. To deliver AI features, we route your prompts, attached content, and related metadata to third-party model providers such as Anthropic and OpenAI ("AI Providers"). Your use of AI features is also subject to each AI Provider's acceptable-use policy. We may add, change, replace, or remove AI Providers and the specific models we use at any time without notice, and we do not guarantee that any particular model will remain available.
Accuracy and reliance. AI outputs are generated statistically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, or offensive, even when they appear confident. You must not rely on AI output for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, or other consequential decisions without independent verification. You are solely responsible for reviewing AI output before acting on it, publishing it, or sharing it with others.
Acceptable use of AI features. In addition to the general rules in section 4, you must not use AI features to:
- generate content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes another person's rights, including sexual content involving minors, malware, or targeted harassment;
- attempt to bypass, jailbreak, or extract the system prompts, safety filters, or other protective measures of the underlying models;
- train, fine-tune, evaluate, or benchmark a competing AI model or service using prompts or outputs obtained from our Services; or
- make automated or bulk requests that abuse, disrupt, or disproportionately consume AI capacity.
Prompts and outputs. You retain any rights you already have in the prompts and content you submit. As between you and us, you may use outputs generated for you in accordance with these Terms and the applicable AI Provider's terms. AI outputs are not guaranteed to be unique; similar or identical outputs may be generated for other users, and we make no warranty that outputs do not infringe the rights of third parties. We handle prompts and outputs as described in our Privacy Policy.
Usage limits. AI capacity is a finite and costly resource. We may apply rate limits, quotas, or usage caps, and may throttle, suspend, or terminate access to AI features where we detect abusive, fraudulent, or disproportionate usage, including on paid plans.
8. Third-party services and OAuth
The Services may integrate with third-party platforms such as Discord or other OAuth providers. When you choose to connect a third-party account, we receive only the basic profile information that provider shares with us. Your use of those third-party services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
UnlockedEditor is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any game, game publisher, or engine referenced on our sites.
9. Intellectual property
All UnlockedEditor trademarks, logos, software, and content are owned by UnlockedEditor or its licensors and are protected by UK and international intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right or licence to use them except as expressly permitted.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every game or system configuration.
Without limiting the above, we make no warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or suitability of AI outputs, and we disclaim all responsibility for decisions you or others make based on them.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UnlockedEditor will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or account access arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above, and will notify you either by email or the next time you launch our software. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local consumer laws grant you additional rights.
